Our Management and Technical Staff

John G. DuPont, PhD, Corporate Scientist‚ earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware in 1975 and a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from the University of Vermont in 1978. Dr. DuPont has expertise in the fields of polymer chemistry and classical wet chemical analytical techniques. He held positions as Senior Scientist and Product Development Manager at High Voltage Engineering Corporation and W. R. Grace prior to joining VHG in 1987.

Chuck Goudreau, Lab Manager, earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 2001, and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 2004. Prior to joining VHG in 2009, Mr. Goudreau held the position of Lab Operations Manager at Bently Tribology Services.

Susan J. Evans Norris, President, earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Cornell University in 1979 and an M.B.A. from Rivier College in 1985. Ms. Norris held positions of Chemist at Earth Sciences and Applications Laboratory Manager, Technical Sales Specialist and Product Manager for Baird Corporation prior to joining VHG in 1988. She is a past President of the Northeast Chapter of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy and has authored numerous papers in the areas of analytical and applied spectroscopy.

Julie M. MacIntosh, Analytical Services and Quality Assurance Manager, earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Lowell in 1976. Ms. MacIntosh worked as an analytical chemist for Concord Labs, Exxon Corporation and Spire Corporation prior to joining VHG in 1988. She has significant expertise in the fields of atomic and molecular spectroscopy.

Thomas M. Rettberg, PhD, Technical Director, earned a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Kansas in 1980 and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985. Dr. Rettberg held positions at Varian Assoc., VG Instruments and was Laboratory Manager and Sr. Product Manager at Thermo-Elemental prior to joining VHG in 2002. Dr. Rettberg is fluent in atomic spectroscopy and has authored numerous papers with particular emphasis on ICP-MS and GFAA.

Troy deRochemont, Manufacturing Manager, has earned Associate degrees in Computer Information Services (CIS) as well as Business Management from NHTI, Concord, NH. He has worked for VHG Labs since 1991. He has numerous certifications, including Principles of Lean Manufacturing from NH Manufacturing Extension Partnership and is a trained ISO 9001 Auditor.

Michael G. Travers, VP, Marketing & Sales, earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University in 1976 and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Drexel University in 1982. Prior to joining VHG in 1989, Mr. Travers held positions of Process Engineer at E.I. DuPont de Nemours, Product Development Chemist and Technical Sales at ICI Americas, and Product Manager and General Manager at Johnson Matthey.
